2020 Spring Competitive Program

Participation in this program requires travel throughout the state of Montana for Saturday games, weekend travel for tournaments (some out of state travel required), and 2 to 4 practices each week. This program, while can be a lot of fun, it does require significant commitment and participation, not only from players but families too.

Commitment Level & Season Plans
  • Very High

  • Indoor Winter Training Session – starts week of January 6, 2020 and will run 6-8 weeks (voluntary, but highly recommended)

  • Outdoor/Season Practices will run 2 to 4 times per week at the discretion of the coaching staff and will last approximately 1 to 2 hours (will vary by team)

  • Regular season matches are on Saturdays – overnight travel is not anticipated

  • Significant Travel – Montana is a large state and your team may have to travel to Libby or Havre.

  • Tournament Participation is expected – 2 to 3 tournaments per team will be planned and discussed with the team (U10, U11 and U12 teams may do only 1 or 2). Tournaments are typically played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with overnight stays required and potential travel needed on Thursdays. Team participation in the MYSA State Cup or Classic Cup is mandatory.

  • Parents/Guardians will be expected to assist with field set-up/clean-up and concessions (as applicable and when offered) when your team hosts home games.

  • Parents/Guardians may be asked to fill these roles at the team meeting:

    • Team Manager

    • Referee (each team is REQUIRED to provide 1 to 2 referees)

  • Recommended volunteer time/participation in Valley Elite F.C. Fundraisers and other committee needs.

2020 Spring Season Length
  • Pre-Season/Indoor Winter Training Session – 6 to 8 weeks beginning week of January 6, 2020.

  • Spring Outdoor Practices – Begin when field/weather conditions improve, by March

  • Spring Regular Season: typically 3 months, beginning end of March/beginning of April through mid-June. Games are scheduled every Saturday unless there is a team blackout date or lack of other clubs to play.

  • Spring Tournaments: Compete in the MYSA State Cup or Classic Cup (mid June) in addition to 1 or 2 more tournaments, at the discretion of the coach and team.

  • Each team is led by an experienced and licensed United States Youth Soccer Coach. Valley Elite F.C. and MYSA require our coaches to pass a background check, pass a concussion awareness test provided by the CDC, obtain a minimum of a Grassroots certification (equivalent to an F Grade License) with US Soccer, and additional licensing as required based on level of team and years of coaching.

  • Valley Eilte F.C. provides a stipend (when feasible) and the team provides travel reimbursement for their head coach.

Team Managers
  • Each team is required to have a volunteer team manager to provide regular team communication and coordination; communicate time and location of practices and game matches, assist with determining and registering for tournament attendance and collection of team fees.  Team Managers are a benefit for the coach and will report to the Club’s Secretary and/or Registrar.

  • Each team is required to have available one to two referees at the level of Assistant Referee. Referees are paid for each game they officiate and Valley Elite F.C. will reimburse initial licensing and uniform expenses.
